Learning is freedom.
Akshara creates access to learning material, mentoring, and school support for children who need a stronger start.
Letter: the first step to a lifetime of knowledge
There is a classroom in Bengaluru right now where a teacher has not come in three days. There are children sitting in it anyway because they want to learn. Akshara exists for those children, and for every student the system has under-served, under-resourced, or quietly forgotten.
Every pen we hand a child is a vote of confidence in their future.
What we do
- Government School Support - painting buildings, improving infrastructure, filling teaching gaps, and making schools feel like places children want to be.
- Classroom Volunteering - where teacher shortages leave children without guidance, Bharavase volunteers step in to teach, mentor, and show up.
- Computer Literacy - opening the door to the digital world for children who would otherwise never touch a keyboard.
- Books, Notes and Stationery Kits - notebooks, textbooks, and learning materials distributed regularly to underprivileged students.
- Slum Education Support - after-school mentoring, homework help, and encouragement for children from Bengaluru slum communities.
- Orphanage and Child Care Engagement - storytelling, skill workshops, and educational activities in orphanages and childcare institutions.
Opening doors through education.
Akshara supports students with the basics that make learning possible: books, stationery, mentoring, digital exposure, and encouragement.
The program is designed for children who already carry the will to learn, but need the tools and support to keep going.
